Serving as the vice president of Marquee Asset Management, LLC, Stuart Hansen possesses decades of investment experience in the United States and China. Before becoming a real estate investment professional who recruits investors from China, Stuart Hansen completed the Honors Business Administration (HBA) program at Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario, now called Western University. The Ivey HBA program allows students to explore a variety of focus areas before they select a specialization. In their freshman and sophomore years, students select courses in any discipline to gain exposure to a variety of fields and expand their knowledge base. In the first year of HBA study, students cover management essentials and other foundational skills for operating a business. In the second year, students have the opportunity to choose from an assortment of electives to create a personalized study program that meets their career goals. In their third year, students begin concentrated study in the HBA program. Students also have the option to continue into a fifth year of study to earn a dual degree in business and another field, such as health sciences, music, economics, engineering, political science, and arts and humanities.

On July 1, 2017, Canada will celebrate its sesquicentennial anniversary. In honor of this day, Western University is planning to develop a time capsule filled with notes from faculty, students, and alumni. The idea is to provide a firsthand account of life in 2017 for individuals living 50 years from now. Participants can share their thoughts about life in Canada and their ideas about the future, which will give individuals in the future a more detailed picture than most historical records can provide. Spearheaded by Josh Morgan, the recruitment and development officer in the Faculty of Social Science’s Local Government Program, the time capsule will be developed by engineering students at the university. Students have to consider such factors as portability of the time capsule and the ability to withstand 50 years of direct sunlight. By involving students in this sesquicentennial project, the university celebrates the talent at Western and in Canada in general. Stuart Hansen is vice president of international investments for Drewco Development Corp., where he works to find investment opportunities for investors from China and other Asian countries. He also is involved in the field of hotel management and development in China and other parts of the world. In preparation for this career, Stuart Hansen attended the University of Western Ontario, London where he earned an HBA in Business in 1988 through the Ivey Business School. While attending the University of Western Ontario, London, Stuart Hansen was awarded the Alexander Rutherford Academic Scholarship in 1982, 1983, and 1984.
